Vegan Friendly Allergy Relief!

Updated: Sep 19

Vegan Allergy Free Girl

According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, more than 50 million people in the US experience allergies each year.

Generally, 3 out of 4 oral products contain animal derived ingredients. It becomes an arduous task to find over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription pharmaceuticals and supplements that are completely animal-free.

Most over-the-counter allergy relief antihistamine products (Allegra, Claritin, Zyrtec) are not vegan friendly.

However, below is a list of popular products that VeganMed has researched to be Animal-Free.

If you can’t find something, contact us and we can work with our compounding pharmacies to possibly make you an animal-free product.

If you like what we are doing...

  1. Then please contact us with your comments and let us know if you support the use of our independent Animal Free Certification on medications and supplements.

  2. Sign this petition encouraging clear labeling of medications and supplements.

While these don’t contain animal products, is there any allergy medicine certified not tested on animals?

The first thing to understand when exploring vegan medications is FDA regulations, which require animal testing during the research portion of new drug development (although progress to eliminate animal testing is in the works). Most vegan lifestyles prohibit the exploitation of animals for any reason. By that definition, medicines cannot be vegan. However, they can be animal-free, meaning they do not contain any animal products.
