Maria, the woman behind the vision of Terraseed, is passionate about creating products that are both good for the planet and good for your health. With a personal journey that has shaped her perspective and a relentless drive to make a difference, Maria is revolutionizing the animal-free space. In this interview, Maria shares her inspirations and experiences that led her to start Terraseed.
If you were an animal-free drug, what would you be?
Maria said "Ginger." Interestingly, ginger has a rich history spanning over 2,000 years in traditional medicine. Versatile and adaptable, ginger serves as a valuable ingredient in various culinary preparations and can be consumed fresh, dried, powdered, or as an herbal tea. Renowned for its healing and anti-inflammatory properties, ginger has been used for an array of purposes, including alleviating indigestion, nausea and vomiting, cold and flu symptoms, joint pain, and inflammation. It also contains vital vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, B6, magnesium, and potassium. Given Maria's extensive travel experiences—having visited 40 countries—it is no wonder that she resonates with such a versatile substance. Maria shared that traveling has shaped her into the person she is today, and contributes many of her ideas and experiences from her travels.
Can you tell us a personal experience that pulled you into the animal–derived ingredients, animal cruelty, or climate change landscape?
Maria said, “Watching bullfights as a kid when I lived in Madrid, Spain. My grandpa used to take me to bullfights and It was such a terrible experience. That is when I started being aware about animal cruelty.” Bullfighting is a centuries-old tradition that is still being carried out in many parts of the world and continues to remain a controversial practice. While some regard it as a historical and culturally significant practice, others denounce it as an act of cruelty toward animals. Although bullfighting has been banned in certain countries, it remains legal in others, such as Spain and Mexico.
What are you working on that’s new and exciting?
