VeganMed is excited to announce its partnership with Vineyard Scripts Pharmacy, a family-owned pharmacy in Vineyard Haven, MA, to address the growing need for specialized support for Alpha-gal Syndrome. As cases of this tickborne illness increase on Martha’s Vineyard, the collaboration focuses on raising awareness and providing animal-free medication options for those affected.
Martha’s Vineyard Hospital has reported a significant rise in Alpha-gal Syndrome, with cases skyrocketing from just two in 2020 to over 150 in 2024. The culprit is the Lone Star tick, which has steadily migrated to the region, causing more residents to develop allergies to red meat and animal-derived products.
“With Alpha-gal Syndrome becoming more and more prevalent on Martha's Vineyard, working with VeganMed was a must. VeganMed allows me to give my patients the peace of mind knowing that the medications they need to take are safe for them.
